Quiero agradecer a los representantes del DELAC por haberme elegido como su Presidenta. Es un verdadero privilegio estar en este puesto. En mi capacidad como Presidenta, será un orgullo de representar a ustedes, padres de aprendices de inglés o de alumnos reclasificados en toda reunión que sea de beneficio y que me capacite en el funcionamiento del sistema escolar, y de nuestro papel dentro de él. Así pues, espero también visitar y participar en los comités ELAC a los cuales me inviten, ya que la labor allí realizada en gran parte tiene un impacto positivo sobre nosotros y nuestros aprendices de inglés. Espero que mi ejemplo motive a todo padre de familia a que se involucre en su escuela, ya sea como voluntario, partícipe en un taller, o por qué no, como miembro de un comité escolar.

I wish to thank all of the DELAC representatives who elected me as their Chairperson. It is truly a privilege to have been elected to this position. In my capacity as Chairperson, it will be an honor to represent you, parents of English Learners and reclassified students at every meeting that I deem of benefit and that increases my understanding of our school system, and of our role within it. In this spirit, I also hope to visit and participate in any ELAC Committee to which I may be invited to visit, for the work undertaken there has a great and positive impact on us and on our English Learners. It is my hope that my example will motivate all parents to become more involved in their child’s school, whether it be as a volunteer, attending a workshop, or, why not, becoming a member of a parent committee,
